A MARTIAL arts company that has
received an increased number of calls since
Joanna Yeates
was murdered is putting on free self-defence classes in
Bristol.
The
lessons, organised by KB Fitness' Personal Safety Team, will
offer women crime prevention advice to help them avoid
becoming victims of an attack in the first place, and how to
protect themselves should they need to escape from an
assailant.
Advice
includes how to defuse a situation and how to respond if an
attacker grabs you.
The
lessons have been prepared by Kelly Bunyan, the head of
London-based
KB Fitness and her senior instructor Dalia Terret, who is an
ex-Met police officer and officer safety instructor
Ms Terret
said: "People often become victims of crime because they
are sometimes perceived as non-confrontational and seen as
easy targets. The lesson will incorporate several
techniques, easy to learn and hard to forget."
A
spokeswoman said: "We've had many inquiries since the
murder of
Jo Yeates,
and although we're London-based, we've decided to offer
this for the Bristol community."
The class
will be held on Wednesday, at Fitness4less, The Pithay,
All Saints Street, at 7.30pm, and will last for an hour.
